Softball is a gift God has given to us players. He chose us for a reason. He chose us to carry out His will and the calling He has given each of us through our gift of softball.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.
They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.
No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”
We softball players are running the race. We are competing on the field. Our goal is to win. We train to compete and play our best. We train to attain our goal and win. The question is, win what? Do you want to just win the game? Do you want to just win the Championship? Do you only want to win something that will last a few moments? Or do you want to win a prize that will last forever? That forever-lasting prize is God's grace and eternal life. God will do unimaginable things for you if you put your faith in Him and train for Him. Don't just train to win the game. Train for Jesus.
Be selfless. Serve others as Jesus did. Be gentle and humble. Be kind. Put your trust in God. Put God first. You will have to sacrifice to win. You will have to be uncomfortable to win. You will have to put God above your own desires. This will require discipline. Discipline yourself to do the right thing even when you don't feel like it. This means taking time to pray, engage yourself in God's Word, listen to God and obey Him, create a relationship with Jesus and prioritize that relationship, and putting God's will above your own. In the end, Jesus and God's grace is a much more rewarding prize than a trophy or a moment of victory.
God's will for all of us is to share the gospel and the good news of Jesus with others. Softball is a great platform to carry out God's will because we interact with many teams, coaches, players, and fans every time we play softball. Softball is a gift, and God wants us to use that gift to spread Jesus' name! We can do so through sharing our testimony, having conversations about God, and especially praying with and for others. Your job is to plant a seed in people's hearts and minds. Then, God will grow that seed.
I am here to serve you and help you make sense of your mission. I am here to show you how to train for Jesus. I am here to guide you through the good and the hard, the joys of grace and the sacrifices you may have to make. You are not alone! Together, we will build each other up. Proverbs 27:17 says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." Softball is a team sport for a reason. Together, we will sharpen one another!
What is your calling and mission from God? What is your God-given gift? How will you glorify God through softball and serve others as Jesus calls you to? What is your identity? Who are you? What is your relationship with Christ like? How do you find your confidence in God? How do you overcome battles? My mission is to help you find the answers to these questions and to guide you on your mission from God.
This workshop will be about an hour and a half long. I will be sharing my testimony of how God saved me through softball and helped me struggle to succeed. I will be teaching girls about how God gives us the gift of softball to carry out the calling and mission He has for each of our lives. I will also be talking about how God gives us struggles to grow and teach us, depending on God, trusting in God, finding confidence in God, and glorifying God on the field. I will be teaching the mental skills of attitude, confidence, and resilience through faith.
This workshop will be for any softball player to join and come together to learn about Jesus and how we can use softball as a platform to spread Jesus's name and glorify God on the field.
